The Snack Search Process

At Low Carb Snax, we strive to meet the standards of what we see as a Low Carb Way of Eating to include the following:

  1. Little to No Sugar Added - As followers of the NSNG (No Sugar, No Grain) diet, we stick with keep sugar intake to zero to 1 gram of sugar added per serving. It's an absolute, we do any fancy calculations with dietary fiber, it's just straight up Carbs per Serving.
  2. Sugar Substitutes - We also stay away from anything ends with -tol or -ose and Stevia and "natural" sweeteners that have zero sugar added are questionable, we stay away from that too.
  3. Ingredients - We look for as few ingredients as possible and look for as little processing as well.
  4. Nitrates and Nitrites - Our preference here is not have these in the foods we sell, but there are some that still use sodium nitrates to keep products "shelf stable". As we continue to research our vendors, we will continue to look for those meats that are sodium nitrate/nitrite free.
  5. Taste Tested and Approved - Lastly, once these items are met, we taste test the snack to ensure it's a fully satisfying snack both in taste and product integrity.
